There is some controversy over what role propaganda plays and whether or not it radicalizes people to take part in these actions. This deserves much further exploration in this volume.
Most believe propaganda has a strong role to play in radicalization given its traditional urge to violence and dissent. At its most effective, it is used to bring about profound attitudinal shift in target populations. Our handbook seeks to unpack the methods, uses, and effects of propaganda in more detail in multiple contexts.
